Speedo, Pentland Brands
The Customer
With offices in over 20 locations globally, Pentland Brands is the name behind some of the world’s best sports, outdoor and lifestyle brands. Speedo, Berghaus, Canterbury of New Zealand, Endura, Ellesse, Mitre to name a few. Their products are available in over 190 countries and are sold either directly or by licensees and distributors.
The Problem
With their previous supplier the Speedo brand encountered numerous delays with artwork production, especially with regards to the flexibility of creating multiple variants in a short space of time. Due to the nature of their business a new goggle variant, for example, may be required at very short notice. This could take up to 5 working days from briefing to a PDF submitted for approval for one artwork.
The Solution
We worked with Speedo on a trial project for a regulatory change that impacted all of their goggle artworks, including cartons and labels. This included:
• 120 new artworks created overall
• 6 Brand-Maps produced - 10 days
• 6 Brand-Maps approved - 2 days
• 120 artworks generated from Excel data - 2 days
• 120 artworks checked - 3 days
• Client approval - 5 days - no errors
• Last minute regulatory change request which affected all 120 artworks, managed in 45 minutes (saving weeks)
• Release to printer 1 day
And Now...
Speedo now have a range of approved brand-maps stored within our Image+ platform. Whenever a new variant is required their Packaging Manager simply creates a brief in Workflow+ and then using our online Editor+ platform creates the new artwork in minutes, generates a PDF and then uploads directly to Workflow+ to route for approval. Once the artwork is approved they simply download a PDF and send it directly to their printer or product supplier.
